Angie Mayer
This scholarship is given in honor and memory of Todd Mayer. Todd was a proud Mechanical Engineering graduate of NDSU. He valued his education but also valued practical knowledge. His interest in how things worked started as a young kid working in Glencoe MN at the local hardware store. He loved fixing things and fixing them so they worked even better than when he got his hands on it. He put himself through college as a small engine mechanic and those skills made him an excellent engineer. Todd gained a lot of experience as a Mechanical Engineer working in the food, semi-conductor, manufacturing, and medical industries. He loved solving problems and spending time on those problems, so in order to focus his efforts, he started Mayer Engineering LLC in 2007. In 2019, Todd created and patented the FEPeeler, a tool used to remove heat shrink in catheter manufacturing. He expanded that tool to other tools and accessories to be used for medical manufacturing under the FEPeeler brand. He had the faith and knowledge to know if something would work or not, when others in the same industry did not, largely due again to his practical knowledge. He was incredibly smart, fun to work with, and valued by other engineers in his industry. Todd has 2 daughters and he recognized the lack of females in the industry. It is his family’s desire that this scholarship helps women succeed in the engineering field. Women who are curious and want to create solutions.
