The scholarship is intended for students who will be or already are a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist prior to starting their advanced degree. Priority would be given to students who have already attained their registration as a dietitian/nutritionist. However, if the student has stated their intent to use either the Master’s Degree or PhD program as a route to eligibility to take the Registration Examination and intends to practice as a dietitian, they would be eligible for the scholarship.
Reason, in the future it is anticipated that the route to entry level registered dietitian/nutritionist will be advance degrees. Flexibility in the criteria must allow for this option. In the future and even at present time some students use either the MS or doctoral program as the way to obtain all the entry level coursework and practice components required to become eligible for the registration examination and this would be accommodated. The application process would need to determine their commitment to become an RDN.
