Dan and Penny Johnson Scholarship Endowment

Dan and Penny Johnson grew up in a small town of 500 people in west central Minnesota. They came from modest backgrounds, and both paid their own way through college. Dan graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering from NDSU in 1986 and soon thereafter began working for Mortenson Construction in Minneapolis. His career spanned over 38 years with Mortenson and he ended his career as Chief Executive Officer of the company. During those 38 years, Mortenson grew from a local general contractor in Minneapolis to an internationally recognized construction leader building large complex construction projects nationally and internationally. Dan’s ticket to this incredible opportunity and career was his education at NDSU. This scholarship has been established to help another young person from a modest background achieve great things in their education, career and life.
