Daniel and Gilean Spiegelberg
This scholarship endowment has been established to encourage and enable
students who graduated from small town southwestern North Dakota high
schools to pursue their dreams and complete their Civil or Environmental
Engineering degree at NDSU without the burden of an excessive student debt.
While good grades are important, a competitive education consists of more than
just studying scientific concepts. Thus, the award criteria show a preference for
students who are involved in and/or leading organization(s) on campus and in
their community. It is hoped that this scholarship will recognize and foster hard
work, honesty, integrity, and service to others.
The donors recognize the excellent engineering education that Daniel received
while earning his BS in Civil Engineering from NDSU. This strong educational
foundation allowed him to complete his MS in Sanitary Engineering from Georgia
Tech in just over one year. The donors further acknowledge the many people
“whose shoulders we have stood upon,” allowing us to succeed in our careers
and live fulfilling lives. We honor the sacrifices of our parents, teachers, siblings,
co-workers, leaders, and forefathers. We are grateful for the beacon of freedom
our country shines forth and the providence of God in our lives.
We have every faith that NDSU will continue to produce Civil and Environmental
Engineers who are equal to the challenges of an ever-changing world and who
espouse the values of small-town North Dakota. May the scholarship recipients
be worthy of our investment and trust in them.
