DuWaune Jilek Memorial Engineering Scholarship

DuWaune Jilek Memorial Engineering Scholarship

DuWayne graduated from NDSU with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1987, and he earned his Executive MBA from the University of Iowa. He worked as a Principal Marketing Manager for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA, starting his career at Rockwell as a Design Engineer and working up the ranks in the Commerical and Government divisions. DuWayne was a focal point for NDSU alumni, and he and his wife SHelley worked extremely hard to keep NDSU at the forefront of Rockwell Collins hiring of undergraduates and co-ops/interns. He served on the NDSU Industry Advisory Board. His passion for engineering and his leadership skills were well known and rewarded.
When not donning the title of Engineer and focused at his computer, DuWayne kept a perpetual list of to-do home projects. He had an affinity for working with wood. He enjoyed making runs to Menards for supplies with his Golden Retriever, Reggie, riding shotgun in his pickup. In addition, DuWayne was an excellent self-taught guitar player, and a member of the NDSU concert choir.
