Herman and Sharon Viegas Scholarship

NDSU offered me a part-time assistantship in the fall of 1968 to pursue a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. This assistance was vital in my being able to afford to come to the USA from my native India. I am grateful for this opportunity and endowing a scholarship is my way to give back to NDSU. I believe that Native Americans are underrepresented in careers in engineering and the STEM fields. As such, I have requested that the endowment award give preference to students of a Native American/American Indian or Alaskan Native heritage. I am proud of my degree fom NDSU that helped prepare me for a successful career in engineering.
