Jean Voorhees

Jean Voorhees

Born in the Black Hills of South Dakota, W.K. (Webb) Voorhees graduated from
the college of Agriculture at North Dakota State University in 1952, following his
discharge from active duty in the US Air Force. He met and married Joyce
Knudson Voorhees, a native of Stark County, while both were teaching in New
Salem, ND. As newlyweds, they joined the NDSU Extension Service in Morton
county, as assistant and home extension agent, respectively. They eventually
moved to Mountrail, Stark, Steele and Pembina counties where Webb served as
a County Extension Agent until his retirement in 1986. Both Webb and Joyce had
a strong commitment to civic service and community causes including the
fulfillment of rural water systems. They were both very proud of their long
association with North Dakota State University and agriculture in the state.
