Joy Query Sociology/Anthropology Scholarship
Joy Query joined NDSU’s faculty in 1966 and has contributed significantly in the areas of teaching, research, and administrative/service. She became the founder and chairman of the Sociology and Anthropology Department and guided the small new department carefully and thoughtfully with an eye for the future. She involved students and colleagues in her research and publications and initiated student internships for undergraduates in the social sciences.
She is a medical sociologist and had one of the few dual appointments with NDSU and UND. She argued successfully for the inclusion of a social science perspective in the education of medical doctors in the State of North Dakota. She is also the founder of the local chapter of Hospice. In her long distinguished career, Joy has won numerous campus and community awards and is a much loved and respected professor, scholar and friend of the university.
