Kevin Anderson Animal Sciences Memorial Scholarship
Kevin J. Anderson lost his life in 2019 in a grain bin entrapment at his job. He was a hardworking, kind, and generous man. Kevin grew up in Carpio, ND, where he was active in school athletics, academic clubs and 4-H. Kevin started working at an early age on the family farm with cattle. He developed a passion for animal genetics and milking cows and worked for many local farmers until he owned his own dairy.
Kevin enjoyed working and always put his best effort into every job. Even though Kevin’s jobs were hands-on work, he was very intelligent and loved to read and figure out difficult math problems. Kevin loved to help others. He would put his own work on hold if a neighbor was in need and he was passionate about supporting children’s charities. He also loved to tell stories about growing up on a farm and had a fun sense of humor.
Robert Brown, friend of Kevin’s and the Assistant Herdsman at the NDSU Dairy Research Center, states, “Kevin possessed a unique working chemistry with his cattle. His keen attention to details allowed him to bring the best out of the cattle and also to help them when they were sick almost before they knew they were sick. He was able to take these skills and talents and teach them to those of us who wanted to learn, which is why I found him to be such an inspiring mentor and friend.”
Kevin would be honored knowing this memorial scholarship will help further the education of a NDSU student pursuing a degree working with animals.
