Louis R. (Dick) Unzelman

Louis R. (Dick) Unzelman

Dick is a fourth generation south central North Dakotan who was raised in a
family where education and history of the northern great plains were high
priorities. He was very fortunate to be educated in a high school strong in
mathematics and science, and to graduate from NDSU with a degree in
engineering and a commission in the US Air Force. Dick earned a graduate
degree in business administration from Purdue University while on active duty.
This background prepared him for high level management positions in large and
complex infrastructure development programs in the US and abroad. Dick
established this scholarship to, in a small way, pay back those who helped him
attain the educational foundation that underpinned his professional success, but
more importantly to provide assistance for descendants of the original Americans
who populated the northern great plains. It is his hope that with an engineering
degree from NDSU they will be able to pursue rewarding professional careers
while working to improve the lives of those around them.
