Merlin Gandrud

The family of Merlin Gandrud endowed this scholarship in his honor to assist students at North Dakota State University further their education in the field of Engineering. Merlin was raised on a farm in Mountrail County and was the first from his family to attend college-something that would not have been possible without receiving a scholarship. While at NDSU, he had to pause his education to attend to things on the farm following his father’s passing, returning as a married student to complete his undergraduate education. Merlin went on to become a very successful agricultural, as well as lawn, garden and turf, engineer, and holds several patents in those fields. Merlin had a thirst for knowledge, a strong faith, a love of family, and a special place in his heart for North Dakota State University.
