Paul & Signe Nystuen
This scholarship endowment is in recognition of the quality engineering
education Paul received from NDSU and the wonderful career and life it
provided. Paul received his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1972 from NDSU and
continued his education there receiving his MS in Mechanical Engineering in
1974.
“I was drawn to the agricultural and construction fields based on my farm
background and my interest in machinery. I was fortunate to work for many good
companies, some of which survived and thrived and some that did not. But each
one was a great experience providing opportunities to learn and advance the
technology of the time. In all cases I dealt with great people sharing the same
interest and goals. My work provided opportunities to travel around the US,
Europe, Japan, Argentina, India, and other parts of the world meeting and
working with people in normal settings beyond the tourist attractions. I hope my
efforts and those I worked with have in some small way contributed to the
wellbeing of the world. My work allowed our family to grow up and thrive in
North Dakota and our sons to attend and graduate from NDSU.”
Paul and Signe establish this scholarship endowment in recognition of NDSU’s
engineering education and wish to offer others the same opportunity to learn
and thrive at NDSU setting the stage for productive and rewarding careers.
