Southam Family

This scholarship was created in the memory of Clair O. Southam, Pharmacy class of 1961, his son, John E. “Jack” Southam, Pharmacy class of 1956, and his wife, Roberta E. Southam, Pharmacy class of 1958. Clair and his wife, Alice purchased the City Drug Store, Mohall in 1950. The Southam family owned and operated the City Drug Store for over 50 years. Both Jack and Roberta served as the North
Dakota Pharmacists Association President. Jack served as President 1965-1966 and Roberta served 1983-1984. They are the first married couple to each have completed a term as President. Roberta was the first woman President of the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy, 1993-1994; having been appointed to the board by Governor Sinner in 1990. Clair, Jack and Roberta believed in the future of pharmacy, leadership, community involvement and educated many students during rotations in Mohall.
