Barbara B. North joined the faculty at North Dakota State University, in 1965, retiring in 2000 as Professor Emerita. Barbara was a caring academic adviser who helped to shape the futures of both undergraduate and graduate students. She was a tireless advocate for enhancing dietetics curricula and started the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at NDSU in the mid-1970s. Barbara’s lifetime goal was that of empowering women. She faced and met challenges with conquered determination. She understood the importance of generosity, the strength of friends, and the grace of humor.
