Vicki Schneider and Donna Rae Jacobson
The Bryan James Jacobson Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of a devoted husband, father, veteran, and proud NDSU alumnus. Bryan graduated from NDSU’s College of Engineering in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and dedicated over two decades to the fields of construction and engineering.
A member of the 119th Civil Engineering Squadron of the North Dakota Air National Guard, Bryan served his country with distinction for 20 years, including deployments in support of post-9/11 missions and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His commitment to service extended beyond the military—he was a tireless friend, mentor, and community member whose infectious smile and generous spirit touched countless lives.
Bryan found joy in the outdoors, cherished time with family, and was a passionate supporter of Bison athletics. Whether playing pinochle, skiing, or spending time in the Boundary Waters, he embraced life with enthusiasm and heart.
This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing degrees in engineering or construction management who embody Bryan’s values of integrity, leadership, and service. Through this award, we hope to inspire future generations to carry forward Bryan’s legacy—building not just structures, but stronger communities.
